FAQ's

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO), now in its fourth and most recent iteration, was established in 2013 by the UK government and offers qualifying homeowners and private tenants receiving certain means-tested benefits the opportunity to replace their inefficient heating systems for free.

The goal of the ECO 4 award, in contrast to other iterations of the programme, is to guarantee that the least energy-efficient homes are raised to a minimum efficiency standard.

As stated in the ECO4 mission statement, the scheme's primary goal is to upgrade properties with EPC ratings of E-G to a minimum rating of D starting in January 2023.

The good news is that grants are now much better available for properties that meet specific requirements, and there have been instances where homes have qualified for total upgrades upwards of £30,000 with savings of up to 70% on annual energy bills!

Excellent news! - MORE benefits have been made eligible under the expanded qualifying criteria from the previous funding grant. What does that mean, though, to you? To put it simply, you are eligible for money and our assistance if you receive any of the following qualifying benefits:

  • Income Support
  • Child Benefit
  • Child Tax Credit
  • Working Tax Credit
  • Pension Credit
  • Income related ESA
  • Income related JSA
  • Universal Credit

A resident of the property must also be receiving one or more of the qualifying benefits mentioned below in order for the grant to be authorised.

This is a huge advancement because it increases the number of households that are eligible for ECO money. Therefore, if you have previously missed out, you may now qualify!
